HEALTH & SAFETY ADVICE

Our advisors have years of Health & Safety experience, with the technical qualifications to match. On top of that, because of their specific industry experience, the advice you will receive will be pragmatic with the sole focus being on getting the right outcome for your business. If, following the call, you require a safety report and/or site visit, this can also be arranged to ensure further compliance and an audit trial in the event of an investigation or enforcement action by the HSE or local authority. We are not a national call centre, you will speak to an advisor who knows your business.

If you encounter a problem in the workplace regarding Health & Safety, all you have to do is call your dedicated consultant who will be available to assist you. DOCUMENTATION

In accordance with the Health & Safety at Work etc Act 1974, all businesses employing five or more employees must record their Health and Safety policy. It is important, irrespective of what market a business operates in, that Health and Safety is taken seriously and appropriate procedures and policies are recorded and periodically reviewed. All Howarths clients benefit from ongoing specialist support in drafting and maintaining a full Health & Safety management system fit for their business. Such a system will include as a minimum a Health & Safety policy statement, organisational structure, risk assessments, employee safety handbooks and periodic checklists.

Our documentation is drafted to be pragmatic, usable and easy to understand. In addition, it will be tailored to your business to ensure maximum value is delivered. We encourage and support our clients to use the system to benefit their business, ensuring ongoing compliance with the law. Combined with our 24/7 Health & Safety advice support line, our clients have peace of mind that they have full Health & Safety support around the clock.

ONSITE SUPPORT

As part of our service, you can expect your qualified advisor to visit your premises to carry out Health & Safety audits. We work with our clients in a bespoke way so the number of visits required per year will be tailored to meet your needs. Our Health & Safety support is designed to be practical and sensible so if for example you work in a small office environment with little risk, it may be that we recommend one visit every 12 months to encourage on-going compliance. However, if your needs are more complex and the risks more prevalent, we can arrange to visit your site once every month. The service is tailored to you to ensure we are adding value in the right way.

The service we provide is personal, so you will get to know your advisor. Just as importantly, they will get to know you, your business and how it works. This way you know that your needs are catered for in a way which will continue to ensure on-going Health and Safety compliance. Following every visit, a report will be drafted by your consultant highlighting any Health and Safety issues for you to be aware of. On subsequent visits, they can then help you make improvements and, with our 24/7 advice line, will be available whenever you need for any query, large or small.

The Health & Safety at Work etc Act 1974 and the Management of Health & Safety at Work Regulations 1999 require employers to ensure that their workforce, including managers and supervisors, are trained and competent.
