Staff Spotlight: Meet our Employment Law Advisor, Anna Nelson!
What’s your name / nickname?

Anna Nelson – no nicknames as Anna is short enough!

What’s your role at Howarths?

I am an Employment Law Advisor.

What does that involve?

I am a point of contact for clients looking for employment law advice – from document drafting to staff issues to queries on terminations.

How long have you been working at Howarths?

I started in November last year.

How did you end up working for Howarths?

I had seen an advertisement on LinkedIn a little while ago for a role, which had stuck in my mind, and then towards the end of last year went back to have a look at the website again. I really liked the look of the ethos of the company and the work they did, so, although there were no roles advertised at that time, I thought I would take my chances and get in touch. Luckily, it paid off!

What do you enjoy most about your job?

Every day can be different – you never know what you are going to be asked! Employment law is quite people based, so situations can vary hugely depending on actions, which keeps it interesting. It’s also great to be able to work with clients to help solve an issue for them.

What makes working at Howarths special?

I would definitely say the people. Everyone works hard and supports each other, which I really don’t believe can be taken for granted. The Howarth Foundation is also such a great element and I’m proud to work for a business that has that.

If you could do any other job what would it be?

I’m a dog lover so maybe a dog walker/doggy day care business would be nice!

What’s your passion outside of work?

I love to ski – I haven’t been for a few years now but getting back in the mountains is definitely on my to do list.

Tell us something interesting about you that no one you work with knows.

I’m not sure about interesting, but the weirdest thing about me is that I have two really odd ‘phobias’, which are bananas and wrists. Don’t ask me why!
