A message from Andy Howarth

Hello
I’m after your support, and I know that sounds familiar and I get the same requests every day,  I also know that you have your own charities that you support; but one of our is the Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice.
Last year we came up with a ludicrously bold notion that we could run a charity event with a difference on behalf of the Hospice and one which didn’t involve raffles, auctions, stand up bingo or three legged races  and didn’t turn everyone upside down for money the minute they walked through the door. We decided to put the table price a tad higher and then leave all our brilliant supporters to enjoy their night safe in the knowledge that they had done getting their wallets out.  We had no idea if it would work or whether we as a business would end up out of pocket and with mud on our faces.
I spoke to a mate of mine, a musician and asked him if he could get a band together of the highest quality that would play for expenses, a couple of pints and a lot of love. He didn’t hesitate and said ‘why not, it’s for a great cause and sounds like fun’. The rest is history and the event was (much to my relief) a success raising over £5000 for the Hospice.
And so… we  have decided to do it all over  again on the 1st July 2016 and Peter Howarth lead singer with the legendary ‘60’s iconic rock/pop band The Hollies has agreed to join us again with his mates the Paul Dobie Band and the amazing show stopping crooner Tony Benedict. They are truly amazing musicians and performers and had the entire audience on their feet bopping the night away. Even I was persuaded to strut my stuff for ten minutes despite only having had a hip replacement three week earlier!
This year we also have a fantastic young comedian/compare/magician in Darren Mac plus a Casino where you will have the chance to win some fantastic prizes (free chips) and enjoy a two course sit down meal and dance (or in my case tap your foot) to live music from the 50’s, 60’, 70’s 80’s and the naughty’s!
Tables are priced at £800 for 10 people, slightly higher than last year but following a serious fire at the hospice, we need to raise a bit more. We have already sold 16 tables (mostly from the people who came last year) leaving us with only seven up for grabs. You can also support us by making a donation to our Just Giving page or buying advertising in our glossy magazine.
We are delighted to announce the major sponsor this year is RRG Toyota Huddersfield and we are deeply indebted to Clive and his team for joining us in promoting this very special event.
As an existing fellow supporter of the Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice, RRG Toyota are delighted to join forces with the Howarths team and help to boost their magnificent fundraising efforts during this innovative and exciting event. We are looking forward to sharing a memorable evening with all the other local businesses that continue to give so generously for such a wonderful cause” Clive Mattimoe, Centre Principle at RRG Toyota Huddersfield.
